BSP MP Dhananjay Singh's wife arrested after maid found dead in Delhi house
A woman working as a domestic help at the residence of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Dhananjay Singh in Delhi's South Avenue area was found dead under mysterious conditions on Monday night.
According to police, the woman had died on Monday morning, but her death was reported quite late. They suspected that the deceased might have been tortured as the body bore multiple injuries on head and other parts.
A complaint was registered on the basis of statement of another domestic help of the house. The wife of MP from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh - Jagriti Singh - is being questioned in connection with the suspected murder.
The lawmaker, however, claimed that the woman fell three days ago leading to grievous injuries. He said he rushed to Delhi from his constituency after knowing about the incident.
"I was in my constituency when the incident happened. I came to know that she died after she fell. I immediately came back and called the police," Singh said on Tuesday.
According to sources, yet another servant of Singh had died under mysterious circumstances at his residence in Balsafa village in Jaunpur in 2009. The police were also probing the four-year-old incident while investigating the latest death.
