(CNN) -- Three people were stabbed to death and three others were in critical condition from stab wounds after a violent incident in New York on Saturday night, authorities said.

The incident occurred in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, said New York Fire Department spokesman Jim Long.
