A day after Narendra Modi’s rally in Patna was targeted with multiple blasts, the Centre on Monday said adequate security is being provided to the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate.
“Central Government has provided adequate security to the Gujarat Chief Minister,” Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde told reporters in New Delhi.
Mr. Modi has been accorded Z-plus security with round-the-clock protection by elite National Security Guard commandos.
Mr. Shinde said he would visit Patna on Tuesday to asses the situation there following the serial blasts in the city on Sunday that has claimed six lives and injured more than 80 people.
“I will review the situation in Patna tomorrow. It is premature to say anything about the blast now as investigation is still going on,” he said.
The Home Minister said one of the injured persons, suspected to be involved in the blasts, has been arrested.
Six persons were killed in the seven low intensity serial blasts of which six bombs went off in and around the venue of Mr. Modi’s mega rally at Gandhi Maidan shortly before his address before a huge gathering on Sunday.
